BIOGRAPHY-PERSONAL/BUSINESS
Steven purchased his first car at 16.
Around the time he left school and started his apprenticeship, Steven purchased two “rusty old bombs” to work on. Over two years he completely restored them. One was a Morris Minor panel van and the other was a Morris Minor tray utility. They were readily identifiable around the northern suburbs and brought much pleasure as well as some painful times that have morphed into dark humour. An elder D’Elia brother with good intentions accidentally “smashed” one of the cars when he took it for a test drive the day before his licence test. Another time, Steven and his father were working on the Morris Tray vehicle in the garage when it caught fire. It was a massive drama and caused severe damage, but it too has become something the family laughs about.
Note: Below are photos of the actual Cars Steven has owned.
